When you look at me, I imagine one sees a lot of things: Woman, Goddess, Human, BLACK.
These are all things that I cant change, but for the longest time, it was the only thing that I wanted to.
To be Black in this world is a strenous thing – it is something you are born into. You dont choose it, in essence, it chooses you – it chooses you to bear it, to live with it, to live in it, to accept it and to thrive in it. To be black in the world means that people see you and make assumptions of you, to catergorize and define you without you opening your mouth and without your consent.
